Writing is really out of my comfort zone, I prefer to be behind the scenes. I am going to blog every day, step into the dark side ha ha. I read a lot of blogs, appreciate and admire many skilled writers. I am hoping you will all like what I have to say and forgive me for the errors.
I will share everything and anything I discover about art, design, and FOOD - my passions in life.
I also recently completed renovating our house. It took us a few years as we did most of the work ourselves - Oh boy, not sure it was a very good idea! Today I share all the photos before the work began. On seeing these photos for the first time since the renovations began, I am finding it difficult to believe how much the house has changed. Every day I will reveal one or more parts of the house, share stories of all the trials and tribulations, share all the sources and resources I used to achieve the look.
This experience was simultaneously exhilarating and frustrating. For all those couples who are thinking of renovating their home, please do not ever live in the property you are renovating - It would almost kill you... Ha ha! My favourite time of the week is Sunday mornings. Every Sunday morning I graze through my large pile of magazines with the a biggest cup of coffee. Here are a few of my favourite kitchens this week:-
1.
Botti Kitchens - Blend of Modern & Rustic. I love adding an element completely different in style and texture to the rest in the room - adding something very unexpected. Like the Kitchen island in the below photo - rustic floor boards cabinet doors set against the smooth concrete walls and floors.

Concrete - Looks like concrete, feels like concrete but it is inexpensive wood composite with a finish that resembles stone - this is Valchromat. I love the pairing of shiny metal against the rough and rustic - so luxurious! Love to pair these cabinets with brushed steel or brass handles. Richard Lindvall a Swedish designer created this space below, modern yet so opulent.

Factory style yet modern chic - Stainless steel kitchen units paired with modern professional grade cooking appliances set against deep, dark textured walls.

Copper is the latest must have Kitchen-surface. You can use it on worktops, sinks & even cabinet door fronts. It is a practical choice as it is naturally anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and very easy to keep germ free. Design by

A photography experiment using a digital camera, mirrors & other reflective surfaces.
I called this series as "the mirror has two faces"
A series I shot using a manual camera - the filters, the textures & all the imperfections I created while developing the film in my studio. I enjoy the developing film more than digital editing. The whole process of working with the chemicals, the paper and the machine is so much more rewarding.
Is it Paint or Paper?
When I first saw these I had to touch them to confirm. Yes these are wallpapers. Mr Perswall, is a Swedish company which manufactures and designs excellent quality wallpapers. All of their designs can be customised to suit any wall size! One can use it to create a feature wall or simply create a mural. Here are a few of my favourite ones. My new obsession, everything House of Hackney! They are incredible! Love the fabrics, the wallpapers & the clothes. This Christmas I got my first House of Hackney dress!! My my is it gorgeous! This particular print is almost AVATAR like... so surreal & beautiful.
The William Morris inspired collection is electrifying. My favourite is Artemis. I would love an entire room with all walls covered in it, with Farrow & Ball Inchyra Blue on all the trims and Pink, lime green & black velvet covered sofas & cushions. Truly heaven...

Cabbages and Roses inspire me. They are my favourite amongst the sea of country style linens. Starting with the styling of the photos, to the fabrics & of course the clothes - so whimsical, delightful and yet so beautiful! They take using contrasting textures to another level. These delicate prints on robust linens, actually get better with every wash. Yes, they can be quite expensive, but I reckon we can collect them over time. Maybe I shall pass my collection to my children someday.
